Rolandos Katsiaounis Digital Archive of Contemporary Social and Political History
A key pillar of the operation of INEP is the creation, development and maintenance of the digital archive "Contemporary Political and Social History - Rolandos Katsiaounis". The aim of the archive is to function as a center for the preservation of modern Cypriot history and the Left movement more broadly. The archive is openly accessible to researchers and the general public and includes several thousand documents from the beginning to the end of the 20th century. The aim is to serve the research community in the search for historical documents and archival material, so as to give impetus to the research of modern Cypriot history and to become a pole of attraction for researchers and academics who seek to highlight issues that historical research has not adequately approached to date.
The name “Rolandos Katsiaounis Digital Archive of Contemporary Political and Social History” was chosen as a tribute to the late scholar and member of the INEP Board of Directors, Rolandos Katsiaounis. Rolandos was a leading figure in the field of history in Cyprus, with a multifaceted body of work that epitomizes the kind of analysis we aspire to promote as Prometheus. Rolandos Katsiaounis was a historian who remained true to the tenets of his discipline, possessing a penetrating perspective and interpretation of events that owed much to the methodological framework he adopted for his work.
The Digital Archive database is located at the offices of the Prometheus Research Institute. All INEP Subscribers have the right to access the archive.
Archive use regulations: INEP subscribers have the right to use the archive by appointment. Archive opening hours: 09:00 – 12:00 / 15:00 – 17:00 The use of the archive is limited to the physical premises of INEP. There is an additional charge for printing documents or obtaining digital copies. (Photocopy charges: black and white A4 €0.05 / black and white A3 €0.10 / color A4 €0.20 / color A3 €0.30. Digital copy charge: €0.05 per document) The use of data from the digital archive must be accompanied by a reference to ……. The maximum daily use time will be determined depending on the demand of users on a given day. The use of the archive will be by appointment only.
